Valid wanted to have a greater focus on personal growth. And, to help them achieve this aim, they developed a new performance management method, called Forward. In this way, Valid is living out its mission to continually improve and to make a difference through innovation. Forward is all about development and progress, and truly has the employee at its heart. Employees draw up their own personal plan, grow through feedback from colleagues and customers, and are in regular dialogue with their line manager.
With Forward, the initiative is with the employee! Employees set their own goals, ask for feedback and work on their personal development.
Valid sets organisational goals to which employees can contribute. Employees also set personal development goals.
Feedback is the basis for development to happen. Forward invites employees to ask for feedback on a regular basis.
Forward helps employees to uncover and use their own talents and so invest in themselves. It goes without saying this is to Valid’s benefit too.
Forward gives employees more say when setting their goals and puts regular dialogue about personal development centre stage. Moreover, it encourages managers to take more of a coaching leadership role. The old system (a Word document) did not even come close to facilitating this way of working. We knew right from the off that we wanted to enable Forward with an innovative online platform. Valid chose Dialog for the following reasons:

Employees put together a personal plan in which they define what they want to achieve and where they want to develop.
Employees are encouraged to ask for and give regular feedback to colleagues. Valid facilitates feedback sessions for employees.
Employees are in control and write their own wrap-up at the end of the year, which forms the basis for the evaluation meeting with the manager.
Research shows that when employees have greater freedom they are happier, precisely what Valid is aiming to achieve by enabling employees to configure Dialog freely and transparently.
Valid is already reaping the benefits of Forward. For example, employees are more focused (95% have drawn up a personal plan). Accordingly, they have greater focus when working on their goals (1776 reflections on goals).
This ensures they are able to contribute to organisational goals in more specific ways. In addition, an ongoing dialogue with regular 1-to-1s has been established (842 x feedback received) between the manager and employee.
